In March of 2008, I spent a week sleeping under a bridge, eating out of dumpsters and panhandling for change as I investigated the social injustice that homeless men and women in St. Augustine, Florida have to face on a daily basis. This is a picture taken by photographer Peter Willott of St. Augustine of me talking with Shamus, the man who took me into his camp and guided me around for the week. The article that I wrote shortly after this week was nominated by Flagler College’s communications department for a Society of Professional Journalists, featured on the front page of Florida’s SPJ website and published on the cover of St. Augustine’s newspaper, The Record.

About Ryan

I became a writer because I believe that the written word has the power to transform, to change and to renew.

Since 2004, I've worked professionally as a writer, editor and consultant, helping small businesses, non-profits and individuals alike connect with their audience through writing that is both appealing and compelling.

The world of writing is not what it once was. Now, it's about being concise. It's about being to the point. Businesses have to grab audiences with content that engages, educates and then leaves them wanting more, all in a matter of seconds.
